PERSONAL HYGIENE ISSUES - ATTIRE ( MARVYN )

As a Chef it is important to have good personal hygiene which includes Hand-washing techniques & Proper Attire.

Proper Attire also ensures the safety of the chefs/Food Handlers, Safeguards consumers from any diseases by limiting exposure of viable sources of contaminations from the food handler or Chef. At the same time maintaining a professional image of a Chef.

It is the responsibility of the Chef to ensure that as a Food Handler his consumers receive Good Quality food as well as Safe Quality in Food, which includes minimization of any food borne illnesses, Therefore the requirement of Proper Attire.

Other Essential parts not included below are :
1) Face-Mask
2) Gloves

Below are examples of Proper Attire :

Picture 1 - Proper Covered Shoes
This covered shoes actually protect chefs from any falling objects that may injure the foot, including falling knives or scalding hot water.

Picture 2 - Full or Half Apron
A full apron would protect the chef from any scalding oil which may splash unto the chefs upper torso or lower torso.
Picture 3 - Chef Hat
Chefs hat would prevent any hair strands from falling into the food which may lead to serious physical contamination and breach of food safety guidelines.

  1. The post is informative of how you ahould wear in the kitchen and the proper hygiene and standards. I also understand why a chef needs to wear the apron and chef hat. The post is also very detailed with the pictures with it.

  2. Qian Yi: Presentation is simple and clear. This post is not too wordy and has a good mix of pictures with descriptions and explanations. The pictures are a good guide to putting on proper attire. I have learnt that it is the responsibility of any chef to put on proper attire to ensure food safety and quality.
